The nation’s first Littoral Combat Ship, USS Freedom (LCS 1), was recently featured on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom.
Fox News Correspondent Adam Housley toured the ship while it was in Naval Base San Diego. In a report live from the ship’s deck, Housley discusses the important missions for the LCS and highlights how its features play a role in accomplishing those missions.
In his coverage Housley also references USS Freedom’s recent first deployment, describing the successful drug interdictions and showing footage from those events.
The television segment also features an interview with the commanding officer of USS Freedom’s Gold Team, Cmdr. Randy Garner from the ship’s bridge. In his interview, Cmdr. Garner discusses the ship’s capabilities, saying he “believes [LCS] is a big chunk of the Navy in the future” for reasons such as the ship’s adaptability.
